My Idea on plastic bag “reduction”, Clinton Initiative!!

My Commitment objective :– “To achieve “Massive Reductions” in
global plastic bag usage”

Proudest moment of my life receiving appreciation for my creativity:-

President’s Award for leadership in innovation from the honorable Mr.Bill Clinton

The use of ‘Non – biodegradable waste’ in form of plastic bags require to be discouraged at a global level in order to save our planet from this necessary evil of using plastic bags.. Towards this objective, I have come up with an innovative idea which envisages massive reduction of plastic bag usage from retail grocery stores globally and is based on the unique grocery shopping behavior of consumers in the developed nations. This technical innovation project would impact the whole world around us in saving millions of dollars in recycling costs, environmental degradation costs, and plastic bag/recycle bins production costs and transportation costs of carrying trash, and the reckless use of plastic bags even when it least needed and would build a global awareness among the consumers who use plastic bags for grocery shopping. The idea is one solution that aims at prevention rather than cure”.
I am still in the process of patenting this technology therefore I am unable to go into the details of this project for reasons of confidentiality. I have been invited to the Clinton Global Initiative ( http://www.cgiu.org/about/ ) for exchanging my idea with partners, sponsors and passionate students from across the world and I am one of the lucky ones to have got this wonderful opportunity. Hopefully I get good guidance from my mentors and friends and will be able to execute this idea very soon! A glimpse of what the Clinton global initiative does can be found on this video!

Presently, in the retail stores in developed nations the consumer uses shopping carts to place all of their merchandise. When the merchandise gets purchased, it is usually bagged into plastic bags, which are then brought home. Most of these bags eventually end up in landfills. According to the 2007 National Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic Bag & Film report, only 7% of the bags within the US are recycled. The company would also partner with Whole Foods; the high-end/environmentally conscious segment of grocery retailers for the initial launch. The collaboration can also be extended to the major retailers like Wal-Mart, which has a tremendous strength in US retail sector.

After the test launch of the product, depending on market potential, MSC product roll-outs would be in the USA, Western Europe, Phase I, and Japan, Phase II. Partnerships with regional retail powerhouses like Tesco would be also explored. Europe has always been ahead of the US in sustainability initiatives.
Phase III would focus on China since wholesale retailing is expanding rapidly with joint venture formations of major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Carrefour expanding rapidly.

@ Thunderbird School of Global Management on the Clinton Global Initiative and My graduate school experience:-

Our Customers

Want to Help the Environment:

The Magic Cart is also for people who are environmentally conscious and want to change their usage of plastic bags but are unable to do anything about it.
Want to Belong:

The product also aims at people who follow a new beneficial system or a culture/mindset after they understand the value in it. People in the western countries, generally follow and adapt to new rules.  Repeat process of this product would easily alter customer behavior especially in countries such as USA, Germany, Singapore, Japan etc.
I am in the process of raising money for the venture and project development and if you can contribute with any small donation of even $5, it would be immensely helpful for me to get that initial seed funding.   Kindly click on the below link to make donations for this business idea.

If you think you can contribute in anyway please do get in touch with me and we can brainstorm and take the initiative forward from there.

Kamlesh
